1. Acceptance of These Terms
By accessing or using The Daily Bao, you agree to these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. Eligibility and Accounts
You may use some features without signing in. Some features, including syncing, subscriptions, restoration of purchases, and account deletion, may require an account.
You are responsible for the security of your account and for activity associated with it. You must provide accurate information and keep your sign-in methods secure.
The Daily Bao is not directed to children under 13. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the service only with permission from a parent or legal guardian.
3. License and Acceptable Use
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use The Daily Bao for personal, non-commercial language learning and reading practice.
You agree not to:
- copy, resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the service or its content
- interfere with, disable, damage, or overload the service
- attempt to bypass security, access controls, paywalls, or subscription checks
- use automated scraping, harvesting, or extraction tools without permission
- reverse engineer the app except where applicable law prohibits this restriction
- use the service in a way that violates law or infringes the rights of others
4. Content and Learning Materials
The Daily Bao provides Chinese reading, listening, vocabulary, poem, story, review, and related learning content. Content may change over time, and we may add, remove, update, or limit access to features or materials.
The service is provided for learning and informational purposes. We do not guarantee that translations, pinyin, definitions, pronunciations, examples, or explanations will always be complete, current, or error-free.
5. Daily Bao Plus Subscriptions
Daily Bao Plus is a paid subscription that unlocks premium features shown in the app. The available plans, prices, billing periods, trial periods, promotional offers, renewal terms, and included features are shown before you purchase.
Purchases are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play. When you confirm a purchase, the store may charge your Apple ID or Google Play account. We do not receive your full payment card number.
Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled through the applicable store before the renewal date, according to that store's rules. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple App Store or Google Play subscription settings.
If you receive a free trial, introductory price, or promotional offer, it will convert to a paid subscription unless canceled before the trial or promotional period ends, according to the terms shown by the store.
Deleting the app or deleting your The Daily Bao account does not cancel an active subscription. You must cancel subscriptions through the Apple App Store or Google Play.
Refunds, billing disputes, renewal notices, price change notices, and payment method issues are handled by Apple or Google according to their policies. We may help you locate subscription management or restore-purchase options, but we cannot directly cancel or refund store-billed subscriptions except where the store gives us that ability.
6. Account Deletion
You may request account deletion in the app or through our Delete Account page. Account deletion removes or de-identifies account data that we control, subject to legal, security, fraud prevention, accounting, backup, and platform retention requirements.
Account deletion does not cancel active subscriptions, remove records retained by Apple, Google, RevenueCat, or other service providers, or delete data stored locally on a device you continue to use. When deletion is processed, we request deletion of the RevenueCat customer record tied to your app account, but store and provider transaction records may remain under legal, tax, fraud prevention, platform, or provider retention requirements. Cancel subscriptions through the applicable store before deleting your account if you do not want the subscription to renew.
7. Notifications and Communications
If you allow notifications, we may send service updates, content updates, account-related messages, subscription-related information, or offers. You can disable push notifications in your device settings.
If you contact support, submit feedback, or request account deletion, we may respond by email or other available contact methods.
8. Intellectual Property
The app, website, design, software, text, audio, images, learning materials, marks, and other content are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. Except for the limited license above, these Terms do not transfer any ownership rights to you.
9. App Stores and Platform Terms
If you download The Daily Bao from the Apple App Store or Google Play, your use is also subject to the applicable store rules, terms, and payment policies. The store provider may enforce those terms independently from us.
For apps downloaded from the Apple App Store, Apple'sStandard Licensed Application End User License Agreementapplies to the extent required by Apple and not inconsistent with these Terms.
10. Availability and Changes
We may update, modify, suspend, or discontinue features, content, subscriptions, or services at any time. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available on every device or platform.
11. Termination
We may suspend or terminate access to the service if you violate these Terms, create risk for the service or other users, or use the service unlawfully. You may stop using the service at any time.
12. Disclaimers
The service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express, implied, or statutory, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Daily Bao and its owners, operators, service providers, and licensors will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or service interruption arising from or related to your use of the service.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and may provide additional notice where appropriate. Continued use of the service after changes become effective means you accept the updated Terms.
